Milk Shark Rhizoprionodon acutus

The milk shark (Rhizoprionodon acutus) is a small, slender requiem shark found in tropical coastal waters of the Indo-Pacific and eastern Atlantic. Growing to about 3.6 feet (1.1 m) long, it gets its name from an old Indian belief that consuming its meat promotes lactation in nursing mothers. They are nondescript gray above and white below with slender bodies, long pointed snouts, and large eyes. They can be distinguished from other requiem sharks by the long furrows at the corners of their mouths.
