Super Large Coconut Crab Birgus latro

The coconut crab (Birgus latro) is the largest living land-dwelling arthropod on Earth. Found on remote tropical islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans, these giant hermit crabs can weigh up to 9 pounds with a leg span reaching up to 3 feet. 

They are named for their ability to scale palm trees and use their immensely powerful claws to crack open coconuts.
